Position Overview
HSQC Group is seeking an experienced Senior Tax Accountant to join our growing Wagga Wagga office. This is a senior-level opportunity for a confident, technically strong professional with 6+ years' experience in Australian public practice, specialising in company and individual tax.
This role offers a strong salary package, internal training, shared resources across multiple states, and the opportunity to guide and mentor a small team.
As a Senior Tax Accountant, you will manage a diverse portfolio of company and individual clients, ensuring compliance with Australian tax legislation while delivering high-quality advisory and compliance services. You will play a key leadership role within the office and contribute to the continued growth of the firm.
Key Responsibilities
* Preparation and review of company, trust, partnership, and individual tax returns
* Preparation and review of financial statements
* Tax planning and advisory services for SME clients
* Managing ATO correspondence and client queries
* Overseeing workflow and mentoring junior team members
* Reviewing work completed by intermediate and junior accountants
* Ensuring compliance with Australian tax legislation and standards
* Building and maintaining strong client relationships
* Assisting leadership with complex tax matters and business advisory projects
Skills & Experience Required
* Minimum 6+ years' experience in Australian public practice
* Strong knowledge of Australian taxation law and compliance requirements
* Experience managing both company and individual tax matters
* Demonstrated ability to lead or mentor a small team
* High-level attention to detail and strong technical capability
* Excellent communication and client relationship skills
* Proficient in Xero, MYOB and other accounting software
* CPA or CA qualification (or near completion) highly regarded
* Relevant accounting degree qualification
