Job Description: Auto Electrician
Savins Radiators is seeking a fully qualified Auto Electrician with strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills to join our growing team in Lismore NSW. The ideal candidate will be experienced in electrical fault-finding, diagnostics, repairs, and modern vehicle electronic systems.
Key Duties Include:
* Diagnosing and repairing electrical faults across a variety of vehicles, including modern and luxury models.
* Installing and maintaining electrical systems such as alternators, starter motors, batteries, lighting, and electronic control units.
* Supporting the Workshop Manager with electrical technical expertise and client consultations.
* Working collaboratively with mechanics and technicians to ensure seamless vehicle service.
* Performing test drives and post-repair checks to validate electrical repairs.
* Assisting in diagnosing complex electronic faults using factory and aftermarket diagnostic tools.
* Advising and guiding team members on the latest industry practices in auto electrical work.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
* Use diagnostic equipment to pinpoint electrical issues accurately.
* Install, repair, or replace wiring, sensors, electronic control modules, lighting, and other electrical components.
* Read and interpret wiring diagrams and technical schematics.
* Ensure all electrical systems are functioning safely and in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
* Perform full system diagnostics for safety features, navigation, infotainment, and battery/charging systems (including hybrid/electric).
* Maintain clear and accurate service records and parts usage logs.
* Liaise closely with the Workshop Manager and support with client communication and warranty claims.
* Stay updated with the latest developments in vehicle electronics, hybrid and EV systems, and diagnostic procedures.
* Maintain a clean and safe working environment, following safety procedures and standards.
Minimum Qualification:
Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology (or overseas equivalent)
Skills & Experience:
* Minimum 2 years' experience in automotive electrical diagnostics and repair.
* Proficient with diagnostic tools (e.g., scan tools, oscilloscopes).
* Solid understanding of modern vehicle electronics and CAN bus systems.
* Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
* High attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
* Ability to assist and collaborate with mechanics on crossover mechanical-electrical issues.
Additional Requirements:
* Your own set of trade tools.
* A valid Driver's License.
* Ability to work full-time: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
