This role provides critical operational, financial and administrative support to ensure effective responses to security incidents, emergencies and self-insurance claims.

Role Overview
Reporting to the Advisor, Security & Emergency Operations, the Business Support Officer delivers a responsive first point of contact service for security incidents, emergencies, access issues and self-insurance claims. This position is responsible for coordinating operational responses, administering financial processes, monitoring budgets, preparing reports and dashboards, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. You will also contribute to incident management responses and business continuity activities, while ensuring compliance with relevant policies, procedures and government standards.

You are highly organised, analytical and confident working in a fast-paced environment. You can assess and triage complex issues, exercise sound judgement and maintain discretion when dealing with sensitive matters. You are comfortable managing competing priorities, working autonomously under limited direction, and liaising with a wide range of stakeholders including government agencies and external contractors. Strong communication skills, financial administration experience and attention to detail are essential to succeed in this role.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver a responsive first point of contact service for emergencies, security incidents, access issues and self-insurance claims
Assess, triage and coordinate responses, including arranging repairs and maintenance
Monitor budgets, track project expenditure and prepare financial reports
Administer invoices, contractor payments and financial transactions
Prepare reports, dashboards and statistics relating to security incidents
Maintain accurate and compliant records and documentation
Support operational improvement projects and system enhancements
Liaise with government agencies and security providers
Contribute to major incident responses and business continuity activities
Promote and maintain workplace health and safety standards
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Experience supporting security and/or emergency management functions
Strong financial and contract administration experience
Proven analytical and reporting capability with high attention to detail
Ability to operate independently and exercise sound judgement
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated systems proficiency and experience with information management systems
Knowledge of crime prevention principles and government security frameworks (desirable)
Understanding of records management processes
Qualifications in Project Management, Emergency Management or Security (desirable)
Incident management certification (AIIMS or equivalent) highly regarded
