Overview
About The Role We are seeking an Implementation Engineer to join a growing technology team working on the modernisation of card processing platforms within a regulated financial services environment. This role combines implementation, development, and operational support, working across Java-based systems, cloud platforms, and payment card technologies. You\'ll be supported with structured training and upskilling, making this an excellent opportunity for engineers with payments or banking experience looking to grow into modern, cloud-native platforms. A performance-based bonus scheme is in place.
Key Responsibilities
* Configure, customise, and implement card processing and payment solutions
* Perform Java-based development and support production-grade systems
* Support integration across issuing, acquiring, routing, and retail banking platforms
* Participate in SIT, UAT, migration, certification, and go-live activities
* Identify defects and support issue resolution across development and operations
* Work with AWS-hosted systems, cloud environments, and modern platforms
* Support containerised and microservices-based architectures
* Assist with Visa and Mastercard certification activities
* Ensure solutions meet security, compliance, and regulatory requirements
* Collaborate with vendors, internal teams, and client stakeholders
Skills & Experience Required
* Experience as an Implementation Engineer, Software Engineer, or Technical Consultant
* Strong Java development experience (production or implementation-focused)
* Experience in the payments or card domain (issuing, acquiring, routing, or banking)
* Background in regulated industries (Banking, Financial Services, Payments)
* Experience working with Oracle / PL/SQL
* Exposure to Linux/Unix environments
* Experience across testing lifecycles (SIT, UAT, migration, certification)
* Comfortable working in client-facing or vendor environments
Desirable Experience
* AWS or other cloud platform experience
* Exposure to microservices, Docker, Kubernetes, or DevSecOps
* Experience with Kafka or event-driven architectures
* Knowledge of Visa / Mastercard certification processes
* Production support or operational experience in large-scale systems
