**About the Role**
Initially a part time role, but will gain hours and build eventually to full time, a great opportunity. The Recovery Coach's duties may vary depending on the specific needs of the participant and the goals outlined in their NDIS plan. A Recovery Coach is funded within a participants NDIS where the participant has a psychosocial disability and requires support in implementing and maintaining the use of the NDIS plan. Common day to day duties of position may include (but not limited to) assisting the participant to:
- Assess a number of mainstream, community, informal and provider options
- Presenting the type of supports available to the participants allowing them to exercise choice and control.
- Negotiate services to be provided and their prices
- Arrange for any assessments required to determine the nature and type of funding required
- Determine the budget for each support type and advise any relevant plan manager of the breakdown of funds
- Liaise with any plan manager to establish the appropriate claim categories and attribute the correct amount of funds
- Link the participant to mainstream or community services
- Assess and manage risk in line with organisational policies and procedures
- Strengthen and enhance participants capacity to coordinate supports, self-direct and manage supports and participate in the community, including providing participants with assistance to:
- resolve problems or issues that arise
- understand their responsibilities under service agreements change or end a service agreement
- Be the key contact for service issues, complaints, major changes, including facilitating: Pre-planning meetings (goal review/setting)Plan review meetings
- Attend appointments with participants where applicable to support assist in utilising the NDIS plan. Please note, this position does not take over the role of a support worker and where possible a support worker is to support the participant to appointments where support is required.
**Skills & Experience**
- Lived or learn experience in the mental health sector.
- Desired qualification Certificate IV in Mental Health or equivalent.
- Demonstrated strong time management skills including prioritization of competing tasks
- Demonstrate understanding of the challenges faced by people with a lived experience of severe and persistent mental health issues Understanding of public sector and community based service systems relevant to people with lived experience
- Demonstrated experience in the provision of support and coordination for people with a lived experience of a mental health issue.
- Experience working with culturally and Linguistically Diverse persons.
- In-depth understanding of the NDIS.
- High level of interpersonal and communication skills to build rapport and interact effectively with clients, staff and other agencies
- Experience in preparing detailed reports as per NDIS requirements.
- Computer Literacy, word processing and database competencies.
- Current Queensland driver's license.
- The ability to obtain a Paid Blue card and NDIS National Screening check
