How You'll Contribute As General Counsel and Assistant Director-General, you will lead the Legal Services team, providing expert legal counsel and support to the Director-General and the department on critical matters. In this role, you'll: Deliver high-level strategic advice on complex legal matters, including on emerging critical issues for the Government, constitutional and administrative law matters, sensitive litigation, claims and disputes. Provide advice and insights on the department's governance and integrity frameworks and ensure they align with contemporary best practice and robust legislative requirements. Represent the department at national forums, committees, and intergovernmental engagements, driving collaboration to address priorities and significant legal issues.
