AIR6500 is the RAAF's $3 billion program to develop a joint air battle management system that builds on the capabilities offered by Next Generation sensor and command and control systems. AIR6500 will create a fully networked 'system of systems' that synchronises air and missile defence operations in joint and coalition environments, maximising situational awareness and enhancing the speed of decision making across the battlespace.
Your responsibilities will include:
The Network administrator's primarily responsibilities include:
* Install, configure, monitor and secure enterprise networking platforms (Cisco, Aruba, Palo-Alto)
* Administration of Linux and Windows environments
* Support VDI platforms (Horizon), SANs, backup systems and disaster recovery activities
* Administration using tools such as Cisco DNA, vCenter, Satellite, UCS Manager, Cisco Intersight, phpIPAM, Commvault, Veeam.
* Ensure compliance with ISM, DSPF, Essential Eight and other security frameworks
* Operate within Agile/Kanban delivery structures
* Create and maintain technical documentation and support processes
About you:

You'll bring strong technical capabilities across networking, systems administration (Windows/Linux/Virtualisation), and infrastructure tooling – with a focus on delivering resilient, secure, and scalable solutions.
We're looking for a skilled and experienced Senior Network and Systems Administrator to support mission-critical ICT systems across multiple security classifications in a high-demand Defence environment.
What You'll Need to Succeed
Essential:
* Experience administrating complex ICT environments (Defence ICT highly regarded)
* Industry certifications in networking infrastructure (e.g., CCNA/CCNP)
* Experience administering large-scale Windows and Linux environments
* Proficiency with virtualisation platforms (VMware)
* Strong troubleshooting experience in physical and virtual systems
* Familiarity with change and configuration management processes
* Hands-on experience with Agile or Kanban methodologies
Desirable:
* Degree in ICT, Engineering or similar
* Working knowledge of Containerisation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD and DevSecOps
* Strong understanding of ISM, DSPF, and Essential 8
