Cumberland is seeking a motivated professional to join our Human Resources team. As a key member of the team, you will provide comprehensive HR services to the organisation, working in close partnership with designated portfolios to deliver end-to-end support to council's employees and leaders.
The role will involve award, policy and procedure advice and interpretation, job evaluations, managing HR related projects, and providing advice and support to managers in relation to performance management, industrial relations issues and workplace investigations.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business or a related discipline
* Significant experience working in a Human Resources generalist environment
* Sound knowledge of industrial relations legislation and best practice
* Ability to interpret legislation and awards/agreements in an effective manner
* Capability to identify, analyse and resolve problems
* Computer literacy, particularly in the MS Office suite and HR information systems
* Advanced written and verbal communication skills including strong negotiation skills
* Demonstrated abilities in building relationships with a wide range of people at all levels of an organisation
* Proven ability to work productively as a member of a team and contribute to team goals
* Current driver's licence
This is a permanent, full-time position, working a 70 hour fortnight, with access to council's 9 day fortnight accrued day off (ADO). The role is predominantly located at Council's Merrylands office, and may be required to work across any of Council's work locations.
The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award. The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role.
