This is an identified position open to Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people only.
Location: Parramatta Temporary, 12 month full time opportunity – with possibility of extension
Grade 5/6: $99,938 - $110,271 pa plus superannuation and annual leave loading
Your role
As part of the Intensive Foster Care (IFC) team, the Social Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Clinician will provide therapeutic services to improve the wellbeing of children and young people who are in out-of-home care, including their families and carers. The SEWB Clinician will promote and support the cultural responsiveness of the IFC model.
What you'll do
As a vital part of the IFC team, you will work collaboratively with clinical, casework and project staff.
You will provide services inclusive of assessment, therapeutic intervention, consultation and training for young people experiencing trauma symptoms who are in out-of-home care.
You will work with young people and their caregiving network through a community outreach service.
You will communicate your understanding of the young person and advocate for their needs with identified stakeholders through written reports and verbal communication.
What we're looking for
A suitably qualified or experienced Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person who possesses:
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in social work, psychology, mental-health, allied health or other human service fields; and /or demonstrated relevant equivalent experience working with children and young people experiencing trauma and/or mental health.
* Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Social and Emotional Wellbeing Framework.
* Knowledge of trauma informed practice for children and young people, their families and carers.
* Demonstrated ability and experience in working with children and young people in Out of Home Care.
* Demonstrated ability and / or experience in delivering individual and group-based interventions
* Current driver licence with ability and willingness to travel across the greater Sydney region, and potentially throughout NSW.
Appointments are subject to reference checks and the following pre-employment checks:
* National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014
* Working with Children Check clearance in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012
* Where a position is identified, an applicant's race is a genuine occupational qualification under the exception in Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
We require a copy of your Confirmation of Aboriginality certificate from your Local Land Council.
If you do not have a Confirmation of Aboriginality certificate from your Local Land Council you could also provide two-three (2-3) letters from Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCO) within the community in which you live/work, which combined address the criteria listed below. This is often a Lands Council or Aboriginal Medical Service — but does not need to be.
The identity confirmation process for Aboriginal people seeks to establish that someone:
* is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, and
* identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, and
* is accepted as a such by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community.
Definition of an ACCO:
An ACCO isan Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Community-Controlled Organisation that delivers services, including land and resource management that builds the strength and empowerment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and people and is:
* incorporated under relevant legislation and not-for-profit.
* controlled and operated by Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
* connected to the community, or communities, in which they deliver the services governed by a majority Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander governing body.
