The team
We are the Forensic Accounting Services (FAS) team, and we are dedicated to investigating suspected misconduct and taking decisive enforcement actions in response to alleged breaches of financial services and credit laws. Our mission includes initiating civil proceedings, collaborating with the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecution (CDPP) to secure criminal convictions, and implementing administrative measures to revoke Australian financial services and Australian credit licenses while prohibiting individuals from participating in financial services and credit activities. The role
As a Forensic Investigator/Forensic Account, You Will
* Conduct thorough and intricate financial investigations into cases of suspected misconduct.
* Identify and highlight issues emerging from financial analysis, which may encompass technical, practical, or legal aspects.
* Extract valuable insights from data, information, and documentation and transforming them into compelling evidence that can drive impactful actions.
* Assist in the process of interviewing and gathering information or documents from various witnesses.
* Collaborate closely with other ASIC teams to ensure effective enforcement outcomes.
* Formulate recommendations for the direction of ongoing investigations.
* Establish communication channels with external entities, particularly financial institutions, to acquire pertinent documents and request affidavits or witness statements.
* Pioneer innovative and streamlined approaches to enhance the team's efficiency.
* Skilfully manage multiple cases to facilitate the smooth progression of investigations
About You
Our ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline. This may include accounting or commerce paired with completed or commenced CPA/CA qualifications. You will also have a sound understanding/knowledge of general accounting principles, financial analysis and audit paired with relevant investigative accounting insolvency/audit work experience.
You Will Also Demonstrate
* The ability to plan, deliver and monitor small to medium sized projects.
* An ability to draw out and verify information using a variety of techniques, including asking probing questions.
* Strong analytical skills. A desire to get to the bottom of a problem and drawing evidence-based conclusions, by navigating data used in a variety of accounting systems.
* Demonstrated experience presenting information to different audiences through excellent written skills and verbal communication skills.
