Part‐time opportunity – 3‐4 days per week. Based in Lewisham or Bankstown offices. Flexible working arrangements. Salary: $51 – $53.31 + Super + salary packaging.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our growing team in a hybrid model via telecare (video or telephone) from your home or in person at our sites.

The Counsellor provides counselling and case management to various clients such as children, families, individuals and couples to support them to address issues which impact their wellbeing and their ability to maintain safe and enriching relationships.

Key Responsibilities

* Deliver person‐centred assessment and therapeutic counselling support services and appropriate referrals for children, adolescents, families, individuals and couples.
* Provide individual, family and group‐based therapy and psycho‐education.
* Actively participate in local inter‐agencies and maintain networks to promote the programme and CatholicCare, contributing to visibility and reputation in the community.
* Comply with all agency and programme policies and procedures including documentation and administrative tasks (e.g., case notes and data collection).

About You

To be successful in this role you will need to have:

* Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Counselling, Psychology or equivalent field and eligibility for membership with the relevant professional board or association.
* Strong experience and skills in providing case management and counselling services to adolescents and children, and a demonstrated ability in systemic practice and theory.
* Demonstrated knowledge of current Child Protection Legislation and sound experience in working with post‐separation issues and the Family Law Act.
* Experience and skills in providing therapeutic interventions and counselling within a trauma‐informed practice model, assessing and responding to the impact of issues including separation, domestic and family violence, mental health, alcohol and other drugs, grief and loss, and child protection.
* Excellent ability to actively collaborate, communicate clearly, and respond with respect while providing telephone or video counselling to vulnerable and distressed clients.
* Ability to appraise and critically reflect on clinical work and participation in clinical supervision.
* Demonstrated experience and skills in working with cultural and linguistically diverse communities, and with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
* Experience with children and a Working with Children Check.
