This is a 6‐month fixed‐term, full‐time position commencing as soon as possible, with possible extension and/or permanency.

Hedland Senior High School (SHS), located in the Pilbara, is an Independent Public School catering for students from Year 7 to Year 12. The Role

Teachers in the Hedland SHS English team are focused on creating outstanding outcomes for students and empowering every learner. Our collaborative, supportive, close‐knit team uses data‐driven practices to ensure continuous improvement for our students.

The successful applicant will strive for excellence in English teaching and demonstrate a desire to deliver a range of courses from Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) to quality literacy instruction. The role involves empowering young people from diverse backgrounds to achieve success, and requires willingness to learn from and share experience with other team members.

Our school provides cutting‐edge professional learning opportunities, including travel to other regional locations and the city, and has strong partnerships with schools across the state.

Teachers and school administrators employed at Hedland Senior High School in 2026 are eligible to receive a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $4 000 (paid in two instalments). Eligible staff must remain employed until the end of the school year to receive the second payment.

Eligibility

* Hold an eligible teacher qualification and registration.
* Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or hold a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
* Apply for a WA Working with Children Check before you start.
* Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
