Our Company
PanAust Limited is an Australian-headquartered copper and gold mining company with operations in Laos, and pre-development assets in Papua New Guinea and Chile.
In Laos, PanAust owns a 90 per cent interest in Phu Bia Mining Limited with the Government of Laos owning the remaining 10 per cent. Phu Bia Mining owns and operates PanAust's two award winning operations – Phu Kham Copper-Gold and Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver, both located in Xaisomboun Province, 120km north of Vientiane.
In Papua New Guinea, PanAust holds a 100 per cent interest in the Frieda River Limited Copper-Gold project, which is a transformative pre-development integrated mining, renewable energy and infrastructure project.
In Chile, PanAust holds a 66 per cent interest in the Inca de Oro Copper-Gold Project through a Chilean incorporated joint venture company, Inca de Oro S. A.
The Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Chief Development Officer to join our team, based in our Corporate Head Office in Fortitude Valley's James Street precinct. Reporting to the Managing Director & CEO, the role will be responsible for leading the growth and expansion strategy of the company by identifying, developing and advancing new and existing mining projects and business opportunities, and ensuring long-term sustainability and profitability of the company.
Key Responsibilities include:
* Managing the strategic investment and capital management of the Company including monitoring group cash flow and funding needs, optimising capital structure and debt arrangements whilst maintaining a positive relationship with banks, advisors and financial institutions
* Lead the development and maintenance of an optimised capital structure and coordinate the Group's investment process, including governance committee oversight.
* Provide valuation expertise and guidance, ensuring consistent methodologies, building internal capability, and delivering insights to support investment decisions.
* Lead the development of Group strategy, incorporating industry analysis and performance monitoring, while managing acquisition and divestment opportunities aligned with business criteria.
* Support clear, consistent communication of strategic priorities and progress to internal and external stakeholders.
* Lead end-to-end growth initiatives, including due diligence, evaluation, execution, and post-transaction integration.
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates who:
* 10–15 years of experience in a senior leadership role with a focus on corporate strategy, investments, and capital management.
* Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related discipline; a Master's degree or MBA is strongly preferred.
* Proven track record of leading strategic investment initiatives, including end-to-end execution and integration for growth opportunities.
* Deep understanding of financial modelling, capital structure optimisation, and investment evaluation processes.
* Mining sector experience is highly desirable, with strong knowledge of the industry's commercial, operational, and regulatory dynamics.
* Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance strategic thinking and hands-on execution.
* Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence at executive and board levels.
