Overview
Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital is seeking dedicated, professional Security Officers to join our team in permanent full-time, part time, or casual roles.
What You'll Be Doing
Security staff work as part of a team, in collaboration with other staff, to assist with managing patients, to provide assistance to visitors, and to assist with protecting staff and securing the assets of South Western Sydney Local Health District.
The emphasis of the role in NSW Health is on assisting with the early identification, prevention and management of incidents. The Security staff provide a safe environment for staff, patients and visitors according to work health and safety legislation.
It is expected that security staff provide the highest possible standard of customer service and professionalism at all times. Note: Security staff, like other NSW Health staff, must contact the police if there is suspected criminal activity on or around a NSW Health premises.
Security staff must not place themselves at unnecessary risk in carrying out their duties; when there are concerns about public safety the police should be called.
- Conduct regular patrols
- Respond to alarms and emergencies
- Assist with emergency evacuations
- Escort staff and visitors as needed
- Operate security systems and manage access controls
- Support violence prevention strategies in line with NSW Health policies

- Current NSW Security Licence (Class 1A), First Aid Certification and an Australian C-Class driver’s license (including P1 or P2). Those with a NSW C-class license (P1 or P2 included) from another state must obtain a NSW C-class license within three months of appointment. Learner licenses are not permitted.
- Elaborate on how your skills and experiences align with the role requirements and what you will bring to the Security Team
- Demonstrate understanding and application of security techniques, including conflict resolution, de-escalation, and restraint practices, in your previous roles
- Describe steps you take to ensure smooth shift transitions, especially regarding communication and handovers
