Junior Plant Breeder Opportunity
The role of a Junior Plant Breeder involves driving the development and commercialization of wheat varieties in Australia. This position entails implementing breeding and testing strategies to realize market opportunities, while contributing to the scientific advancement of the breeding program.
Key responsibilities include:
* Conducting daily breeding works such as crossing, seed preparation, trial planting, scoring, harvesting, data processing and line selection under the guidance of a Senior Plant Breeder.
* Implementing molecular marker tool kits to enable efficient trait selection and variety candidate identification through marker-assisted selection.
* Managing the breeding database, including data storage and backups.
* Contributing to the product development process.
* Supporting product launch and field day activities, including providing technical information to the sales team.
* Collaborating with international breeders to leverage germplasm diversity and breeding tools.
Required qualifications include a degree in Agricultural Science or an equivalent discipline, postgraduate qualifications in plant breeding or genetics, and working knowledge of wheat breeding theory.
