About the opportunity
You are a compassionate, resilient individual with life experience, perhaps as a parent, looking to make a meaningful difference as a residential carer for young people. Your strong ability to understand, work and connect with children will enable you to provide personal care that respects the dignity and privacy of the children.
As a Residential Practitioner, you will play a key role in the lives of young people currently living in residential services, supporting them to live safely within our houses. It's hands‑on, often challenging, but can also be rewarding. You will help create an environment that promotes positive respect and provides care that meets a young person's needs.
What's On Offer
* Comprehensive induction and mentoring program to support your transition into the role and ensure your success.
* Competitive hourly rate, 25% casual loading and superannuation.
* Salary packaging benefits that can be used for living expenses.
* Option to opt in or out of public holidays.
* 10% discount on the childcare subsidy gap fee at Uniting Early Learning.
About You
* Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention, or another relevant recognised qualification must be held or underway.
* If your qualification does not include the following units, you will be required to complete the mandatory units of competency: CHCMHS007 – Work effectively in trauma informed care; CHCPRT009 – Provide primary residential care; CHCCCS009 – Facilitate responsible behaviour; CHCPRT010 – Work with children and young people with complex trauma and attachment issues and needs.
* If you are not yet qualified, you must be willing to enroll in and commence the minimum qualification training during the initial induction (first 2 weeks) before any direct care is provided.
* Completion of the mandatory units and any additional training must occur within 12 weeks of enrollment and within the timeframe prescribed by the education training provider.
* Strong communication and resilience skills.
