About the role
Yarra Ranges Council are seeking a part-time Supported Playgroups Officer to join our Family, Children and Youth team.
The Supported Playgroups program offers support to families with children from birth to school age in the Yarra Ranges who may be experiencing vulnerabilities and may not typically have access to community playgroups.
In this role, you will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating our supported playgroups and in-home coaching programs. These initiatives aim to enhance the capacity and confidence of parents and caregivers in supporting their children's health, learning, and development.
* Part-time permanent band 5 position (2 days per week, with potential to increase to 3), with an hourly rate between $40.73 and $45.25 per hour, plus superannuation.
* Support work life balance with hybrid work arrangements.
* 20 weeks paid primary caregiver leave (6 weeks for secondary caregivers) plus other generous leave options such as family planning and menstrual and menopause leave.
Experience and skills we’re looking for
* Diploma or Certificate 4 level qualification in Children’s Services, Social Science, Health or related field
* Experience working in the Early Childhood and/or Family Services sector delivering early years programs
* Knowledge of Supported Playgroup and home‑based coaching models like Smalltalk.
* Strong group facilitation skills, with the ability to engage parents and children
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Organisational skills to manage enrolment processes, referral pathways, and program reporting in line with funding guidelines.
* A commitment to child safety and inclusivity, upholding Victorian Child Safe Standards in all interactions and program delivery.
