Montague Farms is one of Australia's leading fresh produce businesses, with large-scale orchard operations across Victoria, New South Wales and Tasmania. As we continue to strengthen our technical capability across orchards, we are seeking a Technical & Field Services Coordinator to support the delivery of orchard cultural programs, field services and technical projects.
This is a hands-on, field-based role suited to someone who enjoys being outdoors, working closely with Orchard Managers and technical specialists, and ensuring orchard programs are delivered safely, accurately and on time.
About the role
Reporting to the Horticulture Operations Manager, the Technical & Field Services Coordinator plays a key role in coordinating orchard technical programs and field services, including spraying, irrigation, fertigation and maturity sampling.
You will support the day-to-day execution of orchard programs, collect and analyse field data, assist with audits and compliance, and help ensure orchard infrastructure and resources are maintained to support production outcomes.
This role works closely with Orchard Managers, farm teams, contractors and external agronomists.
Ideally based in Shepparton, we can consider other locations as a base.
Key responsibilities
Orchard & Field Services Coordination
* Coordinate orchard cultural activities including spraying, fertigation, pruning, thinning and harvest readiness
* Monitor field operations and contractor activity to ensure safe, efficient delivery
* Assist with irrigation scheduling, soil moisture monitoring and nutrient management
Technical Program Support
* Implement spray programs in line with recommendations, chemical labels and compliance standards
* Collect maturity samples, conduct fruit quality assessments and record results
* Maintain accurate records for chemical use, pest and disease monitoring and market access
* Support R&D trials and technical projects, capturing and reporting outcomes
Compliance & Safety
* Support compliance with WHS procedures, SOPs and legislative requirements
* Assist with Freshcare, GlobalG.A.P., SEDEX and other audits
* Promote safe work practices, correct PPE use and incident reporting
Communication & Collaboration
* Work closely with Orchard Managers to align field services with production plans
* Provide regular updates to the Horticultural Operations Manager on progress and risks
About you
You are practical, organised and motivated, with a strong interest in orchard technical operations. You enjoy working in the field, solving problems, and supporting teams to deliver quality outcomes safely and compliantly.
You will bring:
* Experience in orchard operations or field services coordination
* Hands-on knowledge of irrigation systems, spray equipment and chemical handling
* Strong attention to detail and record-keeping skills
* A proactive, team-focused approach and strong communication skills
Desirable experience includes:
* Exposure to Freshcare and/or GlobalG.A.P. systems
* Experience in high-density orchard production systems
* Familiarity with precision agriculture technologies
Qualifications & licences
* Certificate III in Horticulture (minimum) or equivalent experience
* ChemCert (or willingness to obtain)
* Current manual driver's licence
* Forklift licence and First Aid (or willingness to obtain)
