THE ROLE On 20 August 2025, the Victorian Government announced a Child Safety Overhaul, which included accepting all 22 recommendations of an independent Rapid Child Safety Review. As part of the overhaul, Government announced changes to the Social Services Regulator (SSR), which includes bringing the Working with Children Check (WWCC), the Reportable Conduct Scheme and Child Safe Standards under one roof. Working in the Child Safety Reform Implementation Branch, this position will support transformational change, helping to drive the government's child safety reform agenda and shape the future direction of the SSR. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Child Safety Reform, the Principal Policy and Project Officer will develop and implement major child safety reforms at the SSR. They will use their exceptional policy development, project management, stakeholder engagement and strategic thinking skills to ensure effective and timely delivery of reforms to Victoria's WWCC scheme, in line with government and organisational objectives. The role requires adaptability to meet the needs of a dynamic environment, and advanced stakeholder engagement skills to ensure effective coordination of activities across multiple regulatory schemes and multiple areas within the SSR. ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE Day-to-day your responsibilities will include: Lead and support major and complex child safety reform policy and projects. Work closely with regulatory and enabling functions within the SSR to support project delivery and the effective operationalisation of reforms. Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government departments and regulatory and other agencies, to ensure a coordinated and integrated approach to reform implementation. Work with SSR's corporate function to establish and maintain robust governance structures, identify risks early, and ensure appropriate mitigation strategies are in place.
