Staff Specialist or Visiting Medical Officer – Obstetrics & Gynaecology (Staff Specialist level 1 or Sessional Visiting Medical Officer). This position qualifies for incentives under the NSW Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme, including up to $10,000 sign‐on incentive and up to $5,000 each year (incentive value dependent on full‐time equivalent, position and location). Eligible for Staff Specialist appointments only.

About The Opportunity

Wagga Wagga Base Hospital, part of the Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD), is seeking a dedicated and experienced Consultant in Obstetrics & Gynaecology to join our dynamic team. * Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia in Obstetrics & Gynaecology.

Duties

* Provide specialist obstetric and gynaecological services, including antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal, and general gynaecology care.
* Supervise and support junior medical staff, midwives, and nursing teams.
* Participate in teaching, training, audit, and clinical governance activities.
* Contribute to service development and quality improvement projects.

Roster Coverage & On‐Call

* Participate in a departmental roster providing both weekday and weekend cover.
* On‐call commitment shared equitably among consultants (currently 1 in X4, negotiable).
* Availability for emergency presentations, theatre lists, and delivery suite calls during rostered on‐call periods.

Selection Criteria

* Registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, or overseas trained specialist pathways recognised by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
* Demonstrated recent clinical experience in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the service level with substantial experience in gynaecological surgery.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team.
* Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
* Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.
* Availability to participate in an on‐call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
* Demonstrated commitment to behaviours which align to the NSW Health CORE values and MLHD Values, goals and strategies.
