The Portfolio Performance & Insights Lead plays a critical role across a national self-insured workers' compensation program spanning all Australian jurisdictions. This role sits at the intersection of business performance, analytics, and technology enablement.
This role is a hands-on performance leaderresponsible forpersonally designing, building, and deliveringhigh-quality portfolio performance reporting and insights across anational, multi-jurisdiction self-insured workers' compensation program. This role will enable insight-led decision-making, translation of business needs into analytics requirements, and delivery through technology platforms The Lead will work closely with DXC and customer leadership to shape priorities, whiledirectly producing the reports, dashboards, and insightsthat drive financial performance, operational consistency, and improved injured worker outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting & Insight Delivery (Primary Accountability)
* Strategic owner of performance insights
* Design, build, and deliver national portfolio performance reports, dashboards, and insight packs for DXC and customer governance forums.
* Develop consolidated national views while appropriately reflecting jurisdictional differences across Australian workers' compensation schemes.
* Produce clear, accurate, and timely reporting covering key financial and operational drivers including claims cost, duration, medical and treatment spend, weekly benefits, common law exposure, recoveries, reserves, and return-to-work outcomes.
* Ensure all reporting is decision-ready, insight-led, and aligned to customer and DXC priorities.
* Define and lead the performance analytics and insights agenda aligned to organisational strategy, scheme sustainability, and regulatory obligations.
* Identify priority insight domains across claims performance, injury management outcomes, employer behaviour, financial performance/ sustainability, and risk exposure.
Financial & Portfolio Analysis
* Undertake detailed analysis of portfolio performance to identify trends, risks, and opportunities across jurisdictions.
* Translate analysis into clear, actionable insights and recommendations that support financial sustainability and improved outcomes.
* Support forecasting, reserve monitoring, and performance tracking against budget and actuarial expectations, with a strong focus on explaining drivers and impacts.
Performance Leadership & Stakeholder Partnership
* Partner with DXC and customer leadership teams to understand strategic priorities and ensure reporting directly supports decision-making.
* Lead performance conversations by presenting and explaining insights, not just producing data.
* Support customer governance forums, quarterly reviews, and ad-hoc performance deep dives.
SME Engagement
* Work with subject matter experts across claims, injury management, finance and data teams to inform analysis.
* Clearly define analytical questions and data requirements, while retaining ownership for building and delivering the final outputs.
* Validate and challenge inputs from SMEs to ensure accuracy, relevance, and consistency.
Continuous Improvement & Reporting Excellence
* Continuously improve reporting quality, automation, and efficiency across the national program.
* Build and maintain robust reporting frameworks, KPIs, and data definitions.
* Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort while increasing insight quality and consistency.
* Act as a technical reference point for portfolio performance reporting within the program.
Skills, Experience & Capabilities
Experience
* Strong hands-on experience in workers' compensation, self-insurance, insurance analytics, or portfolio performance reporting within the Australian market.
* Demonstrated experience building and delivering executive-level reports and dashboards, not just overseeing others.
* Experience working across multiple Australian jurisdictions and schemes in a national program context.
* Accountable for insight adoption and value realisation.
Technical & Analytical Capability (Critical)
* Primary translator between business needs and analytics capability.
* Business lead for analytics technology enablement.
* Advanced capability in data analysis and report production using tools such as Power BI, Excel (advanced), SQL or similar.
* Strong understanding of workers' compensation financial and operational performance drivers.
* Ability to interpret, explain, and challenge complex data and actuarial outputs.
