Job Description
Main Responsibilities:
* The Production Horticulture Manager will oversee the cultivation and harvesting of crops, ensuring high quality produce is delivered to market.
* The role involves coordinating and supervising a team of farm workers, providing guidance on crop management practices and monitoring their performance.
* The manager will also be responsible for implementing and maintaining efficient planting programs, in line with the Operations Manager's instructions.
* This includes overseeing growing and other crop-related operations, as well as coordinating seed production and sourcing.
* The manager will be responsible for maintaining and repairing equipment used in fertigation, spreading, and spraying, ensuring they are calibrated accurately.
* Regular water usage reports will be submitted to the Operations Manager, compared to issued licence quotas.
* The Production Horticulture Manager will maintain quality control records and ensure production targets are met.
* Other duties may include evaluating break crops, maintaining soil sustainability, and undertaking manual tasks as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Candidates should have:
* A relevant diploma or degree, plus at least 1 year of experience in horticultural operations or farm management.
* Experience working with large-scale agricultural machinery and holding an unrestricted Class C Driver's Licence.
* Chemical User Certificate Accreditation and Forklift Licence are essential.
* Holding a HC Licence is also necessary.
* Candidates should be culturally adaptable and able to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
* A willingness to participate in manual tasks and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
* A strong work ethic and commitment to ongoing learning are also required.
