The Opportunity
We are seeking a Systems Administrator to support the configuration, maintenance, and ongoing reliability of ICT systems in a mission-critical environment.This role will see you responsible for ensuring the performance, availability, and security of networked systems and servers, while supporting high-fidelity training systems used in Defence operations. You will troubleshoot complex issues, contribute to system hardening, and operate within strict cybersecurity frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage user accounts, access controls, and authentication processes
* Perform system maintenance, updates, and patching across Windows and Linux environments
* Monitor system performance, availability, and security, escalating issues where required
* Maintain documentation, procedures, and onboarding materials
* Support infrastructure across servers, networks, and associated systems
* Contribute to system hardening and compliance with Defence security requirements
Skills and Experience
Essential
* Strong experience administering Windows and Linux systems
* Understanding of network infrastructure including switches, routers, and firewalls
* Experience with patching, system maintenance, and hardening practices
* Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and secure system operations
* Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
* Ability to work onsite in a secure, high-tempo Defence environment
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
* Active NV2 Australian Defence Security Clearance
Desirable
* Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) or similar
* Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent
* Experience working within Defence or government environments
Working Environment
* Highly secure, mission-critical Defence setting
* Onsite role located at HMAS Watson
