Welcome to x15
We're a venture-scaler powered by CommBank. We build, buy, and invest in startups that could benefit our 15 million customers and beyond.
Our unique position lets us navigate the space between corporate and startup worlds. We're close enough to benefit from CommBank's strategy, scale, and stability, but separate enough to have autonomy to try new things.
What it's like to work here
We're a community of galvanisers, thinkers, and doers. Our big, bold vision excites us rather than deters us.
We focus on the impact we can have on people's lives and the role each of us plays in shaping CommBank's future. We don't take ourselves too seriously and make time to connect, celebrate, and grow our people.
We're guided by three values: Care, courage, and commitment. This means being aware, attuned, and always acting to help our people and customers. We lead with grit and grace, doing what's right – even if it's hard. And, whatever happens, we always find a way.
Role Overview
This is a critical role within the x15 Portfolio team. The team finds and invests in opportunities, then backs our Ventures to scale. You'll report to the Executive Manager Growth, driving and overseeing initiatives that accelerate x15's and our ventures' growth milestones.
You'll work closely with CommBank, x15, and our ventures to create best-in-class user experiences for new ventures and internal projects.
In this Product and Design Lead role, you'll define and drive the vision and roadmap from product research and design to the build stage for early-stage concepts. You'll partner with business stakeholders and the squad to deliver innovative products and exceptional customer experiences.
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Ownership:
2. Apply expertise to manage prioritisation, balance trade-offs, and explore strategies to successfully achieve business outcomes.
3. Drive project inception and exploration to ensure alignment of product strategy.
4. Formulate hypotheses to validate customer problems and define clear learning objectives that will inform product roadmap and prioritisation decisions.
5. Identify, articulate, and manage risks and compliance across streams of work.
6. Lead and develop the product roadmap and engagement with senior stakeholders/business units to manage the delivery of product roadmap.
7. Lead the Squad day-to-day to deliver change and lifecycle activities.
8. Manage senior business and technical stakeholders to ensure prioritisation is understood and agreed to.
9. Manage the Squad's performance to defined objectives.
10. Release prototypes and iterate a product that meets customer needs and achieves the squads' goals.
11. Accountable for addressing impediments, driving decisions, and resolving escalations.
* Act as the voice of the business and translate this for the team.
Design Leadership
12. Co-create experience strategy and set a vision for the squad with broad sets of stakeholders and leaders.
13. Owning the end-to-end design of our product – from research, wireframing, and prototyping to building out our visual language, patterns, and styles.
* Lead collaboration between the design, product, and broader teams to support delivery and iterate based on data and feedback.
Skills and Experience
14. Proven experience across both product management and UX/UI design, with a track record of delivering successful and innovative digital products or services.
15. Expertise in leading design and/or product teams while still being comfortable rolling up your sleeves, ideally in early-stage ventures.
16. Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
17. Solid understanding of responsive design principles and accessibility standards.
18. Strong communication and collaboration skills, able to articulate your vision in a compelling way.
19. Demonstrated problem-solving skills and an ability to leverage data and insights to make commercial decisions.
20. Curiosity and openness to learning new things, taking accountability for finding solutions to challenging, ambiguous problems.
21. Pushing the envelope for innovation and leveraging new and emerging capabilities to enhance our experiences.
22. Experience with driving change, co-ordinating the implementation of solutions to issues across broad, complex, and emerging areas.
23. Digital-first businesses experience, where automation and simple processes are core pillars in planning and delivery activity.
24. Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to build and nurture strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders across different domains.
* Able to autonomously lead your team, manage multiple projects/streams at the same time, but also know when to make decisions to stop non-meaningful work.
