Posted: 29 November
Offer description

Desert Accounting and Business Support Services (DABS) is a not-for-profit organisation that provides tailored Human Resources, Payroll and Accounting service support to Aboriginal corporations and organisations.

We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Senior HR Consultant to join our team and make a meaningful impact across our diverse client portfolio.

In this dynamic role, you’ll deliver high-quality HR generalist services to our valued clients, contributing to the development of innovative HR systems, policies, and governance practices. You’ll lead end-to-end recruitment and onboarding processes, support performance and employee lifecycle initiatives, and provide expert guidance on remuneration strategies. If you thrive in a collaborative environment and are committed to empowering Aboriginal organisations through best-practice HR, we’d love to hear from you.

- Based in East Perth, with free parking
- Enjoy the benefits of salary packaging with up to $15,900 per annum tax free

We’re looking for someone who is:

- Solutions-focused, takes ownership of challenges, conducts thorough research and analysis, and presents well-considered options.
- Adaptable to changing priorities, enjoys a variety of work, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
- A clear and proactive communicator who brings clarity and confidence to every interaction.
- Comfortable working independently while being a team-oriented and supportive team member.
- Skilled in managing a client portfolio—able to build strong relationships quickly, identify key issues, and follow through with precision and care.
- Strongly client-focused, delivering timely, accurate, and practical HR/ER advice across a range of areas including recruitment and selection, policy and procedures, award and EBA interpretation, pay and conditions queries, disciplinary matters and performance management processes.

To be successful in this role, you’ll bring:

- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, or significant equivalent experience.
- At least 3 years’ experience in a generalist HR/ER, business partnering, or consulting role providing a broad range of advice and services.
- Hands-on experience with HR systems, particularly in recruitment and performance management.
- A solid understanding of HR and ER practices, processes, and compliance requirements.
- Proven ability to interpret and apply Enterprise Agreements, awards, and employment legislation (knowledge of the Social, Communities, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award would be highly regarded)
- Strong digital skills, including Microsoft Office and HRIS platforms such as Employment Hero.
- Previous experience working in an Aboriginal or culturally diverse organisation would be highly regarded.

In addition to a rewarding and dynamic position, we offer benefits such as:

- A flexible, supportive team environment with Work from Home options
- Generous salary packaging: up to $15,900 tax-free annually, plus $2,650 for meal entertainment
- Extra paid leave between Christmas and Current Year
- One annual Wellness Leave Day
- 17.5% leave loading
- Long Service Leave pro rata after five years
- Paid parental leave after 12 months of service
- Free onsite parking and close access to public transport, cafes, and restaurants

Before an offer of employment can be made DABS requires a National Police Clearance, not older than 6 months.

You are encouraged to submit your application as soon as possible as DABS reserves the right to shortlist and interview applications as received. While we would love to contact each applicant, this is not always possible, and we thank every applicant in advance for taking the time to apply.

Unsolicited resumes and contact from recruitment agencies will not be accepted.

Indigenous Australians are encouraged to apply. We are seeking to increase the diversity of our workforce to better meet the needs of our clients and to improve equal opportunity outcomes for our employees. This is authorised under Section 51 of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984.

Your application will include the following questions:

- Do you hold a current Australian unrestricted Driver's Licence?
- Do you have the ability to travel?
- What are your current work rights in Australia?
