Primary objective

Provide high level advice and support for appropriate analysis, reporting, and data collection methodologies related to NT schools,

education programs, policies and research projects, including a specific focus on data assurance and governance.

Context statement

The Strategic Reporting and Performance unit within the Strategic and Business Services division leads the department's national and

strategic data collections, submissions and public reporting, working in partnership with other divisions and OneNTG agencies. The team

undertakes analysis to inform evidence-based policy and investment and provides data and performance advisory services to other

business areas within the department. The team have system ownership of the departments main school and system business intelligence

platform (eDash) and the Business Intelligence Centre (BIC) and provide data assurance and governance functions.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Advise on best practice, methodologies and use of student data for education participation and achievement reporting.

2. Oversee role-based access to data systems and ensure strong data governance practices are implemented to maintain data integrity,

privacy, and security.

3. Conduct in-depth analysis of education data and provide advice to inform the delivery of the Education and Training Strategic Plan.

4. Provide project management, quality assurance and written briefs for regular data reporting and analysis obligations.

5. Liaise with relevant stakeholders in relation to education data requests, reporting requirements and data submissions.

6. Develop, maintain and influence collaborative relationships and networks to support strategic reporting and analysis activities and

contribute to building department wide data literacy skills.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Strong analytical and interpretative skills with proficiency in software applications to manipulate and analyse diverse datasets, ability

to interpret client requirements, and ensure high data quality standards.

2. Knowledge and proven experience in the areas of data governance and strategic information management with demonstrated ability

to implement and enforce data governance standards.

3. Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to provide appropriate, meaningful, and accurate information to a wide

variety of audiences, including translating complex information into clear, actionable messages.

4. High level time management and prioritisation skills including ability to manage concurrent projects.

5. Ability to build and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders and interact effectively with people from

diverse cultures and foster collaboration and shared responsibility for data stewardship.

Desirable

1. Experience using: SAP Business Objects, Power BI, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Active Directory, and knowledge of DAMA-DMBOK.

2. Relevant tertiary qualifications – Data Science, Information Technology, Statistics, Education, or another related field.
