Position Summary
The Automotive Technician (Electrical & Mechanical) is a dual-skilled role responsible for completing full vehicle upfitment, including mechanical installation, accessory fitment and *****V electrical installation work. The role requires capability across wiring, system integration, mechanical assembly and accurate execution of build requirements.
Technicians carry out wiring harness installation, circuit modification, system testing, fitting of assemblies, panel removal, and installation of radios, lighting, switching systems, communication equipment and auxiliary electrical systems. The technician works largely independently, completes job documentation accurately, and escalates issues affecting timing, safety or quality.
Key Responsibilities
Full Technical Duties (Mechanical)
Complete full accessory installation including bullbars, canopies, racking systems, tool modules and service body fitments.
Conduct vehicle disassembly and reassembly to access routing paths and mounting locations.
Measure, adjust and fit mechanical components to meet specification and alignment requirements.
Perform minor modifications to components within provided instructions.
Work independently on assigned builds while meeting expected timelines.
Document all mechanical work completed as required.
Full Technical Duties (Electrical)
Install, modify and route 12V/24V wiring looms and harnesses.
Install radios, lighting systems, switches, auxiliary power systems and communication equipment.
Perform wiring tasks including crimping, splicing, heat-shrinking and termination of connectors.
Conduct basic to moderate electrical fault checks using test tools.
Complete electrical testing to confirm correct operation of installed components.
Escalate complex electrical diagnostics to an Automotive Electrician or Team Leader.
General
Undertake other duties as assigned by the Executive Management Team.
Participate in or contribute to projects or process improvement initiatives.
Comply with all MFI Policies and Procedures.
