Transformational Opportunity - New Structure, New Focus, Broad Scope
As Director Structures Planning and Delivery, you will lead the recrafted Directorate in the reformed Structures Division, and with peers, collaboratively elevate Structures' profile, partnering and contribution to the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR), industry and the community of Queensland. Reporting to the Deputy Chief Engineer Structures, your critical role will provide the principal source of advice to senior leaders and the most important stakeholders in TMR for aspects relating to the planning, design and construction of structural engineering projects.

Through your vision, leadership and strategic direction of both BAU + priority challenges, you will help shape and enhance better outcomes across the transport network, state-wide. Focusing on areas of structural design and construction, you will oversee the delivery of design and other structural engineering projects, ensure consistent and efficient design review processes; enable structural engineering support during construction, drive innovation and provide guidance to industry though the development of technical documents and specifications, inform and influence investment requirements, and integrate pragmatic digital engineering in delivery practices with a focus on asset management activities.
As a high performing and delivery focused Executive Director, you will lead the team of structural engineers and technical officers to deliver business requirements, customer centric and responsive service, and technically respected, authoritative engineering advice to the Department. The range of work is interesting and diverse, covering all stages in structures lifecycles (planning and optioneering, design, construction, maintenance and rehabilitation). Through your oversight and direction, the team will embrace accountability, meet expectations and deadlines, engage and update stakeholders, work collaboratively and keep abreast of industry developments and innovation (nationally and internationally), gaining better outcomes in truly a collective approach.
Your Leadership and Structures Technical Expertise
Your leadership philosophy of engagement and collaboration, building trust, developing others and continual improvement / innovation will be fundamental to success. With a strong background in the design of bridges and other transport structures, and extensive technical and professional leadership in the delivery of high level advisory, you will also possess a demonstrated history of leading teams to meet corporate service delivery expectations.
Mandatory Qualifications and Requirements
* Possession of a Washington Accord accredited four-year degree in Engineering (Structural or Civil) or equivalence recognised by Engineers Australia.
* Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) in the discipline area of Structural Engineering.
