Project Overview
The Eva Copper Mine Project is a greenfield resource poised to become the largest recent mine in Queensland, Australia. It is located in Cloncurry on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon people. The Project is owned by Harmony, a world-class gold and copper mining and development company with assets in South Africa, Australia, and Papua New Guinea. Bechtel is delivering the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) scope for the Eva Copper Process Plant and Non-Process Infrastructure across all disciplines and functions for this capital project.
Job Summary
The Concrete Supervisor is responsible for the direct hire scope of works. The Concrete Supervisor monitors all appointed direct hire and Contractor job-site activities, ensuring that construction operations and contractor performance meet project ES&H, quality, and schedule requirements while maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders. This role is offered on a FIFO basis to North Queensland, operating on a 2:1 roster.
Major Responsibilities
* Construction monitoring and compliance of direct hire and sub-contractors, ensuring works are carried out as per drawings, specifications, standards, schedule, and ES&H plans.
* Coordinate performance of installation contractors, project status, schedule, cost control, and change management systems.
* Coordinate with contractors, engineers, clients, and other stakeholders involved in earthworks and foundation works.
* Ensure continuous construction work fronts availability through review of look-ahead schedules, commodity charts, resource charts, engineering deliverables, material delivery schedules, and other service requirements including sub-contractor submittals.
* Review and approve sub-contractors' submittals, technical queries, field change documents and other technical documents including drawings and As-Builts.
* Maintain effective relationships with other functional departments and coordinate all job-site contractual activities.
* Coordinate and monitor interfaces with other work groups.
Education and Experience Requirements
Preferably a recognized degree in an engineering discipline or a minimum of 10 years of experience in civil and concrete works on industrial plants.
Minimum 10 years of experience in construction projects in a contractor or a PMC role.
Required Knowledge and Skills
* Experience with large-scale bulk excavation and excavated material movements.
* Experience with large reinforced concrete construction pours including embedments on major equipment foundations.
* Comprehensive knowledge of relevant standards, specifications, codes, and safety procedures.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills to maintain a positive work environment among all parties.
* Self-motivated, independent, professional judgment, and a passion to take ownership of projects with technical leadership for contractor staff and construction engineers.
* Demonstrated knowledge of complex formwork systems and installation processes on similar projects.
