The RoleThis ongoing part‑time role (15 hours per week) operates in accordance with the Geelong Sports Museum’s current opening hours, which are Thursday to Saturday, from 9:30am to 2:30pm.
The Museum Visitor Experience and Program Officer is central to ensuring a welcoming, well run and engaging environment at Geelong Sports Museum. This role supports daily operations, visitor services, and the administrative processes that underpin programs, tours and events. It requires the ability to independently operate the museum during weekdays with limited supervision and on Saturdays without onsite supervision.
In this role, you will welcome visitors, process ticket sales, coordinate admissions and maintain a clean, prepared museum environment. You will manage customer enquiries across email, phone and the ticketing platform, coordinate group and school bookings from initial enquiry through to confirmation, and maintain accurate records, schedules and documentation. You will also confidently navigate and use multiple digital systems including ticketing, point of sale, document management systems.
Further, you will also activate and monitor interactive experiences, assist with basic troubleshooting of exhibition technology and point of sale systems, and escalate issues when needed. Additionally, you will support the smooth delivery of group visits, tours and school programs through material preparation and onsite assistance. Most importantly, you will provide friendly, consistent customer service to ensure every visitor enjoys a safe and positive experience.
About YouYou are friendly, organised and confident in delivering great customer service. Ideally, you have experience in arts, culture, tourism or hospitality, but this is not essential. You communicate clearly in writing and in person, and you are comfortable speaking to groups and assisting with tours. You pay attention to detail and follow instructions and procedures with care. You are physically capable of safe manual handling, willing to learn Geelong’s sporting history, and able to work both independently and as part of a small team. You remain composed during safety or emergency situations and are available to work Saturdays.
