About the school

The School of Health Sciences offers an extensive range of high‐quality, accredited undergraduate and postgraduate programs designed to engage students in learning experiences across classroom‐based education through to professional workplace practice. A nationally consistent occupational therapy curriculum is delivered on the Fremantle and Sydney campuses.

About the role

This position is responsible for delivering high‐quality teaching within the occupational therapy program and contributing to a positive, engaging and supportive student‐centred learning environment within the School of Health Science.

The academic will support student learning through effective teaching practice, subject coordination, assessment design and moderation, and the provision of timely and constructive academic guidance to students. The role also contributes to the ongoing development, quality, and sustainability of the program through curriculum enhancement, academic governance, and collaboration with academic colleagues, clinical partners, and external stakeholders.

Lecturer (Level B), the role focuses on contributing to teaching excellence, curriculum delivery, clinical education and emerging scholarship.

Senior Lecturer (Level C), the role includes a broader contribution to academic leadership, including course coordination, curriculum innovation, and a significant role in research, scholarship, and professional engagement within the discipline.

Key Responsibilities

* Deliver high-quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including lectures, tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops and clinical education and supervision.
* Design, develop and continuously improve subject and course materials in line with accreditation standards and contemporary pedagogical practice.
* Develop, implement, and evaluate assessment and examination processes, including marking and moderation.
* Contribute to the development, delivery, and quality assurance of clinical education programs, including maintaining effective clinical partnerships.
* Engage in professional development and maintain active involvement in the Occupational Therapy profession and relevant external networks.
* Comply with University policies and procedures and support the mission and values of the University.

Level B

* Coordinate subjects and contribute to course coordination.
* Provide supervision to honours and postgraduate coursework students and contribute to research supervision.
* Undertake research and scholarly activity aligned with School and University priorities, contributing to publications and outputs.

Level C

* Undertake course coordination and broader program leadership.
* Lead supervision of honours and higher degree research candidates.
* Lead or play a significant role in research programs and teams.
* Participate in academic administration, including committee membership, student consultation, and governance activities; contribute to broader leadership and planning.

Qualifications, skills & experience

* Possess a Post Graduate Qualification in Occupational Therapy or a related discipline or equivalent clinical/professional experience.
* Current unrestricted registration with AHPRA as an Occupational Therapist
* Demonstrated experience in tertiary teaching within Occupational Therapy or practice-based health education.
* Established knowledge and networks within the clinical education domain
* Strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills, including effective written and verbal communication.
* Evidence of engagement in research and scholarly activity (e.g. publications, research participation, supervision)
* Experience undertaking academic leadership and administrative roles within a university (e.g. course coordination).
* Completion, or near completion, of a PhD in Occupational Therapy or a related field (Level B)
* Clinical experience across rural, mental or child/adolescent health that aligns with program teaching and placement needs.
* Experience with innovative teaching methods and digital learning environments.

Additional for Level C

* A doctoral qualification or equivalent accreditation and standing.
* Demonstrated record of scholarly and professional achievement in Occupational Therapy.
* Evidence of leadership in teaching, curriculum development, and/or research.
* Experience in course coordination, academic leadership, and contribution to strategic or governance activities.
* Proven ability to lead research projects, supervise higher degree research students, and contribute to the discipline at a broader level.
