Offer description

Senior Product Designer (end to end) Do work that matters At CommBank, we're on a mission to make banking delightful and human-centered. The Web Messaging squad is at the forefront of this mission, delivering outstanding user experience solutions for CommBank customers. You'll be part of the Agent Excellence Crew within the Customer Service Direct domain (Retail Bank). See yourself in our team We’re looking for an experienced Senior Product Designer to join the Experience Design Chapter for the "Netbank Next" web messaging program of work. We're bringing our award-winning messaging solutions to Netbank, and other web platforms, and providing an enhanced chat and messaging ecosystem to help CommBank customers solve banking questions, and get the support they need. You are someone who thrives working end-to-end — from discovery and service design to UI design and execution — and will join a collaborative, user-focused product team. You’ll partner closely with Product Managers, Engineers, Business SMEs and Researchers in an agile Product Operating Model environment to deeply understand customer needs, translate insights into elegant, scalable solutions, and drive outcomes that deliver real customer and business value. You will collaborate closely with design colleagues in related squads to ensure a coherent and consistent experience across channels. You’ll balance strategic thinking with hands-on design execution, and you’ll be a key voice in shaping the product and the broader customer experience. Key Responsibilities Lead discovery work to uncover customer problems and needs, validate opportunities, and inform product strategy through user research, workshops, and co-design. Translate insights into concepts, user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and polished UI designs, ensuring solutions are both desirable for customers and feasible for engineering. Apply systems thinking and service design techniques to shape an offering that must anticipate the needs of customers in a physical service environment, and the staff who serve them. Collaborate closely with Product Managers and Engineers throughout the agile lifecycle — from problem framing and ideation to delivery and iteration. Champion customer-centricity and advocate for best-in-class user experience at every stage of the product development process. Contribute to product strategy and roadmap discussions by grounding decisions in customer insights, design thinking, and data. Facilitate and participate in design critiques, workshops, and agile ceremonies, providing and receiving actionable feedback to continuously improve outcomes. Contribute to evolving our design system for consistency, scalability, and efficiency. Measure and validate impact post-launch, using a mix of qualitative and quantitative insights to iterate and improve solutions. What You’ll Bring 5 years of experience designing digital products end-to-end in cross-functional product teams. Proven ability to lead discovery and delivery activities with customers, product, and engineering stakeholders. Deep understanding of human-centered design methodologies and how to apply them pragmatically in a fast-paced agile environment. Strong collaboration and communication skills — you’re as comfortable sketching ideas on a whiteboard with engineers as you are presenting strategic concepts to executives. Excellent interaction and UI design skills, with an eye for detail and craft. Experience designing for complex systems, services, or platforms, not just isolated features. Proficiency with modern design tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe Creative Suite) and a basic understanding of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, components, design tokens). Comfortable navigating ambiguity and complexity, balancing customer needs with business goals. A portfolio that showcases end-to-end product design thinking, craft, and measurable impact. Nice to Have Experience working in Financial Service, or another industry that combines physical and digital services Exposure to design systems management and contribution. Familiarity with metrics-driven product development (e.g., running experiments, A/B testing). Passion for mentoring others and uplifting the broader design craft in the organisation. Why Join Us You’ll work on products that genuinely impact people’s lives. You’ll be part of a highly collaborative, customer-first culture. You’ll have ownership and autonomy to shape the product as a key member of a cross-functional team.
