Your New Role
We are currently seeking two candidates to be appointed at either a Research Associate (ACLEA Classification) or Research Fellow (ACLEB Classification) within the green energy, avian mitigation project. Candidates will conduct research into knowledge gaps surrounding the direct and indirect impact of renewable energy projects on key cockatoo species in Australia. Outputs will develop science to support conservation decision making. The roles include desktop research, stakeholder engagement, data collation and analysis, preparation of reports and peer reviewed journal articles.
There will be significant overlap between the positions, however, please indicate in your application if you would like to be considered for Position 1 – Engagement and Expert Elicitation, or Position 2 – Data Analyst.
Research Associate (ACLEA) key responsibilities will include:
* Actively contributing to the research project by collaborating with the Research Team to successfully deliver the project milestones and key performance indicators.
* Contribute to the planning and execution of research through relevant literature review, and collaborating with internal and external experts, including industry partners.
* Supervise students where appropriate.
* Maintain accurate records of workflows and data.
Research Fellow (ACLEB) key responsibilities will include:
* Contribution to research, individually, and as a member of a team, and produce quality publications.
* Make applications for external competitive research funds, individually, and as a member of a team.
* Consult and provide advice to undergraduate, postgraduate and HRD students.
* Supervise honours, master's by coursework, and HDR students.
* Contribute to the Institute, the University the University, the profession and the discipline.
* Participate in the University's Academic Contribution Development (ACDR).
* Undertake such other duties as determined by the Senior Postdoctoral Fellow.

This Fixed Term (1 Year) | Full Time (37.5 hours per week) position attracts a remuneration of $78,000 - $105,000 (ACLEA) | $111,000 - $131,000 (ACLEB) plus 17% employer superannuation contributions.

What you'll bring to the role:
Research Associate (ACLEA)
* Completion of a relevant graduate qualification, and preferably an Honours degree; in combination with experience in a relevant area.
* Strong experience in vertebrate ecology or zoology.
* Ability to work under broad direction only, exercise initiative in undertaking responsibilities and work effectively as a team member.
* Ability to engage in high quality independent research.
* Capacity to generate research funding; independently or as part of a research team.
* Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary and collegial team.
* High levels of written and oral communication skills in English.
Research Fellow (ACLEB) key responsibilities will include:
* PhD in an area relevant to the position.
* Ability to work under broad direction only, exercise initiative in undertaking responsibilities and work effectively as a team member.
* Demonstrated ability to engage in high quality independent research, with an established record of scholarly publications.
* Demonstrated capacity to produce grant applications, with a track record in the generation of research funding (either independently or as part of a research team).
* Demonstrated ability and commitment to successfully supervise honours, postgraduate and HDR students.
* Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary and collegial team.
* Demonstrated high levels of written and oral communication skills in English.
