Australian Government - Department of Defence (SA) | Darwin, NT | Onsite Baseline Clearance | Required Start Date: Monday, 23 February 2026 Contract: 12 months
Department of Defence (SA) is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to play a pivotal role in the design, implementation, and optimisation of secure, resilient, and scalable network infrastructure across the Northern Territory. This is a high-impact role based onsite in Darwin, supporting mission‑critical operations aligned with Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) standards.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain enterprise‑grade network infrastructure across NT operations. Configure and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless systems. Implement network security remediation and uplift in line with ASD requirements.
Monitor performance, proactively resolve issues, and optimise resilience across LAN/WAN environments. Develop and document architecture diagrams, as‑built configurations, and operational guidance. Collaborate with stakeholders and system owners across multi‑disciplinary teams.
Uphold organisational safety, environmental, and quality standards.
What You Bring
Proven expertise in designing and managing secure ICT network environments. Hands‑on experience with firewalls, routers, switches, and enterprise wireless systems. Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve complex connectivity issues.
Deep understanding of cybersecurity protocols and network resilience best practices. Excellent communication skills to engage technical and non‑technical stakeholders. Close attention to detail with strong documentation skills.
