Job Summary
Lithgow High School is a Department of Education High Potential Gifted Education Partner high school. The student population of approximately 750 is reflective of an evolving and diverse community, with a strong representation of First Nations students.
The school has a strong culture of sporting, academic, and community links, with students participating in a wide range of learning experiences. The Inclusive Education Unit is comprised of 12 classes, and the school has an award-winning Wellbeing Centre and a unique Wellbeing Hub.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrated ability to lead colleagues, utilize formative and summative assessment to plan, implement, and review new curriculum, within a framework of backward mapping skill development leading to improved learning outcomes.
- Proven expertise in visible and proactive school leadership, working in successful collaboration with the executive to develop and support whole school policies, priorities, and initiatives in the School Excellence Plan.
- Demonstrated ability to develop a culture of high expectations, mentor beginning teachers, and lead future-focused thinking across the faculty.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to lead the continual development of a HPGE Enrichment Stream from years 7-10, and to passionately lead numeracy school-wide with a diverse range of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
Selection Criteria
- Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning, and classroom practice.
- Knowledge of curriculum, assessment, and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs.
- Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff, and parents.
- Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy.
