Senior Systems Engineer (MSP)
Salary: $135,000 to $150,000 + super
Senior hands on role in our Level 3 engineering team reporting to the CTO. Your work priority is projects first, then platform ownership, then Level 3 BAU escalations and incidents.
You will join a 20+ person team, including a 6 person Level 3 engineering group working closely with the CTO. Teamwork is critical. We rely on clear handovers, steady communication, and engineers who back each other.
This is an infrastructure first role, but Microsoft 365 is a core platform in most client environments. You will own complex tenant changes alongside server and private cloud work.
We want someone who takes ownership, communicates clearly, and finishes work properly.
What you will do
* Lead the technical delivery of changes and uplift work, design, implement, test, document, handover
* Own complex Microsoft 365 tenant changes and security uplift, Entra ID, Conditional Access, MFA, PIM, Intune, Autopilot, baselines
* Own and optimise Windows Server environments and core services, AD, GPO, DNS, DHCP, IIS
* Help run and improve our managed private cloud platform, maintenance, health checks, optimisation, capacity planning
* Drive patching, vulnerability remediation, and hardening across OS, firmware, and hypervisors using change control
* Own backups and recovery, mainly Veeam, including restore testing and DR readiness
* Be the senior escalation point for Level 3 BAU issues and major incidents, and lead RCA through to prevention
What you will bring
Must have
* 10+ years in IT, ideally MSP or multi customer, supporting 20 to 500 user organisations
* Strong Windows Server skills in hybrid environments, 2016 to 2022
* Strong Microsoft 365 experience in client environments, tenant changes, troubleshooting, uplift work
* Entra ID depth, Conditional Access, MFA, RBAC, PIM
* Good working knowledge of Intune, device compliance, policies, baseline hardening
* Strong patching, change control, and incident RCA capability
* Strong Veeam skills
* Solid networking fundamentals, VLANs, routing, VPN and IPsec
* Strong communication and teamwork, clear notes, clean handovers
* Cyber conscious mindset
Nice to have
* Security framework exposure, ASD Essential Eight, ISO 27001, or NIST
* Exposure to Microsoft Copilot and Microsoft Purview
* Distributed or hyperconverged infrastructure experience
* SQL Server support experience
* PowerShell or Bash scripting
* Microsoft certifications and other relevant industry certifications
* Voice experience, Teams voice, SIP and related platforms
