About the Role
As a Social Worker within the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) Mental Health Services, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, person-centred care to consumers accessing community-based mental health services. You will provide comprehensive assessment, intervention and care coordination to support recovery and optimise health and wellbeing outcomes for individuals, their families and carers.
At the AHP1 classification you will develop your clinical practice and professional capabilities while working under direct clinical supervision. At the AHP2 classification, you will apply your clinical experience with greater autonomy to deliver high-quality, evidence-based social work services.
Responsibilities – AHP1
- Deliver social work services within a mental health context, including assessment, care planning, intervention and discharge planning.
- Apply developing knowledge and skills to support consumers with a range of mental health presentations.
- Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary mental health teams to provide coordinated care.
- Manage a caseload and respond to routine and some non-routine clinical situations with support.
- Participate in professional development, quality improvement activities and service improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities – AHP2
- Provide comprehensive assessments and interventions for consumers with more complex mental health needs.
- Manage a caseload with reduced supervision, including non-routine and complex clinical presentations.
- Demonstrate sound clinical reasoning and professional judgement in a mental health setting.
- Support and guide less experienced staff, students and allied health assistants.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary care planning, service development and quality improvement initiatives within mental health services.
About You
You are a compassionate and motivated Social Worker with a strong interest in mental health, committed to supporting consumers, families and carers through recovery-oriented practice.
Qualifications
- A recognised Social Work qualification with eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake comprehensive psychosocial assessments and deliver evidence-based interventions within a mental health setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with consumers, carers, multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
- The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary mental health team and contribute to coordinated, consumer-centred care.
- Effective time management and organisational skills, with the capacity to manage a clinical caseload in a dynamic service workplace.
- A commitment to continuous learning, professional development and quality improvement.
- For AHP1 applicants: emerging clinical capability and a willingness to learn and grow within a supported mental health environment.
- For AHP2 applicants: more developed clinical experience, sound professional judgement, and the ability to manage more complex presentations with increasing autonomy while supporting others in the team.
