Position Overview
The Complex SIL Team Leader is responsible for the day-to-day operational oversight and coordination of complex Supported Independent Living (SIL) environments across More Opportunities.
This role focuses on ensuring participants, staff teams, and SIL homes are set up for success through proactive planning, operational leadership, risk management, stakeholder engagement, and implementation of effective support strategies.
The Complex SIL Team Leader plays a key role in advocating for appropriate funded support ratios, environmental controls, staffing structures, and participant-specific strategies to ensure safe, sustainable, and high-quality support delivery aligned with NDIS Practice Standards.
This position supports the transition and stabilisation of complex participants prior to routine handover into standard SIL Team Leader oversight.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
* Provide day-to-day operational support and oversight for complex SIL participants and homes.
* Support the setup and stabilisation of new SIL homes, transitions, emergency placements, and high-risk environments.
* Assist in implementing structure, routines, staffing consistency, and operational systems within SIL environments.
* Ensure participant supports are delivered in line with care plans, behaviour support strategies, medication requirements, and risk management plans.
* Monitor overall house presentation, safety, compliance, documentation, and support quality.
* Escalate operational risks, incidents, staffing concerns, and environmental issues appropriately.
Complex Participant Coordination
* Support participants with complex behaviours, psychosocial disabilities, mental health presentations, forensic histories, high-intensity supports, or elevated safeguarding risks.
* Advocate for appropriate staffing ratios, support hours, and funding requirements based on participant needs and risk profiles.
* Work collaboratively with Support Coordinators, Behaviour Support Practitioners, Allied Health teams, Guardians, Families, Hospitals, and external stakeholders.
* Assist with implementation and monitoring of Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs), restrictive practice requirements, and proactive support strategies.
* Ensure appropriate control measures and environmental safeguards are identified and implemented while maintaining participant dignity and rights.
* Support successful participant onboarding, transition planning, discharge planning, and stabilisation.
Team Leadership
* Provide leadership, guidance, mentoring, and operational direction to support staff and Key Workers.
* Directly supervise and support Key Workers.
* Assist staff with implementing participant strategies, documentation expectations, and proactive support approaches.
* Support staff confidence and capability when working within complex environments.
* Participate in staff coaching, feedback, supervision, and performance discussions as required.
* Promote a positive team culture focused on consistency, professionalism, and participant outcomes.
Risk, Compliance & Quality
* Monitor incident trends, documentation quality, and risk management practices within allocated homes.
* Ensure incidents, restrictive practice concerns, hazards, and safeguarding matters are escalated appropriately.
* Support compliance with:
o NDIS Practice Standards
o NDIS Code of Conduct
o Organisational policies and procedures
o Medication and high-intensity support requirements
* Assist with audits, house reviews, documentation checks, and continuous improvement activities.
* Ensure operational practices align with participant funding, service agreements, and approved support models.
Participant & Home Setup Responsibilities
* Support development and implementation of:
o House routines
o Staffing structures
o Risk controls
o Communication systems
o Participant-specific strategies
o Environmental setup requirements
* Ensure teams are appropriately informed, trained, and equipped to provide consistent supports.
* Action a comprehensive handover once approved for transition.

Essential Requirements
* Experience working within Supported Independent Living (SIL) environments.
* Experience supporting participants with complex behaviours or high support needs.
* Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
* Current Working with Vulnerable People Registration.
* Current First Aid & CPR Certificate.
* Current Driver Licence.
* Strong understanding of NDIS Practice Standards and compliance requirements.
* Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary environments.
Desirable
* Leadership or Team Leader experience within disability services.
* Experience with complex mental health, forensic, or psychosocial disability presentations.
* Knowledge of NDIS funding and roster ratio requirements.
