WHY BAI COMMUNICATIONS
It's an exciting time to be part of BAI Communications. Building on our achievements in broadcasting, telecommunications and critical communications, we continue to expand our operations, helping connect people, support communities and advance economies.

A leading communications infrastructure provider, BAI operates an extensive broadcast network across 751 sites, delivering fully managed television and radio services covering 99% of the Australian population. In times of crisis, such as natural disasters, national broadcasters rely on BAI to maintain their communications with the public, and emergency services trust us to keep them connected and informed.

With the acceleration of 5G technology, BAI leverages its global experience to enable ubiquitous coverage in buildings, tunnels, stadiums and other congested hard to cover areas, as well as contributing to the creation of smart precincts.

LET'S EXPLORE THE ROLE

The Mt Bellenden Ker cable car in Far North Queensland is not a tourist attraction but a critical piece of infrastructure for workers accessing a telecommunications and broadcast facility on the summit. The cableway provides access to the summit, which is officially Australia's wettest place and experiences extreme weather, including cyclones and high heat. The operation is managed by BAI Communications, and carries workers to a broadcasting site, making it a stomach-dropping ride for those who use it daily.

The Cableway Operator will undertake the maintenance of all aspects of the Cableway infrastructure and ensure contiguous operations of the cableway as well as maintaining the asset condition to ensure the facility is running in the safest possible manner and in accordance with the relevant Australian and Canadian standards and codes of practice using best practice principles.

* Undertake cyclone preparation of the cable car and top and bottom stations as required. Assist in the clamping of the track and haul ropes prior to incoming cyclones.
* Responsible for ensuring all pre-operational checks are completed prior to operation of the Cableway. The collecting and recording of all tests, maintenance activities and observations should be recorded in the Maintenance and Operations log. All faults or damage detected must be entered in the tracking Log and raised with the site supervisor.
* Ensure all processors around cableway operation are followed and if needed impose restrictions on the loading of the Cableway to suit any weather or wind conditions. Any concerns should be raised with the site supervisor for directions before allowing the car to operate.
* Any unique or abnormal Flora and Fauna observations noticed during car journeys are to be recorded in the Rainfall log for use by National Parks
* Carries out the various tests and maintenance checks set out on the Cableway Maintenance Schedule
* Maintains the car and ensures that the car landing area is clean and tidy and that there are no obstacles which may endanger or damage the car on approaching the station on the next trip. The bottom station loading area (around the scales) is to be kept clear of all obstructions
* Return all tools and equipment to their correct locations and ensure the car is clean at the end of each day, connect the car battery to the charger at the end of each day
* The Cableway Operator is responsible for the security of the transmitter buildings and Cableway facilities while visitors are present
