Job Responsibilities
1. Develop and implement programs in schools, including planning, coordination, and execution.
2. BUILD STRONG RELATIONSHIPS with students, community members, and school staff.
3. Provide daily transportation as required, promoting a safe and reliable service.
4. Mentor and support young people aged 12-18, facilitating workshops, presentations, and one-on-one support.
5. Deliver NASCA Life Skills and School Engagement activities, such as cooking, creative arts, leadership, CV creation, goal setting, and job-ready skills.
6. Organize healthy breakfast programs, if needed, promoting nutrition and well-being.
7. Plan physical education activities, including traditional games and sports.
8. Coordinate after-school and weekend activities, excursions, and residential programs.
9. Foster cultural exchange between community, schools, and organizations through community activities.
10. Create personalized learning plans for students, catering to their unique needs.
11. Collaborate with school teams and occasionally work weekends and overnight for camps and residential programs.
12. Pursue additional tasks as assigned.
Desired Qualifications and Experience
* Relevant qualifications in teaching, social sciences, Indigenous studies, coaching, youth services, or health.
* Experience in facilitation, presentation, or working with children and young people.
* Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
* A proven track record of working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and organizations.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Effective organizational and time management skills, able to handle multiple priorities.
* A proactive approach with a high degree of autonomy and initiative.
Essential Requirements
* Relevant qualifications and/or management experience.
* Experience working in a not-for-profit organization.
* A valid driver's license.
* Clearances for working with children and adults.
* Cross-cultural intelligence.
* A passion for social justice and equality for First Nation peoples.
A Typical Day
* Providing classroom support to enhance student learning.
* Facilitating engaging workshops based on our values.
* Liaising with school staff on student-specific needs.
* Coordinating cultural events with community members.
* Brainstorming with team members to improve program activities.
* Taking photos for promotional purposes.
* Collecting attendance data for reporting and program improvement.
