Fruit & Vegetable Manager – IGA Byron Bay
About the Role
Join our busy, high‑performing IGA in Byron Bay as our new Fruit & Vegetable Manager. This is a hands‑on leadership role in a vibrant, fast‑paced environment, ideal for someone who is very passionate about fresh produce, highly proactive, and committed to excellence.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee all aspects of the fruit and vegetable department
* Achieve required gross profit (GP) and maintain budgeted wage percentage
* Manage ordering, stock rotation, and inventory control
* Uphold very high presentation standards and execute outstanding merchandising
* Lead, train, and supervise a small team
* Set and achieve department targets and quality standards
* Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting produce section
* Monitor and report on department performance, making data‑driven decisions
* Foster a positive team environment and support staff development
* Visit the Brisbane Markets once a week (2‑hour drive each way) to personally source fresh produce, negotiate with wholesalers, and ensure the best quality and value for the store
About You
* Extensive experience in fruit and vegetable retail management
* Very passionate and proactive about fresh produce and customer service
* Proven ability to achieve required GP and maintain budget wage %
* Desire to grow within the business and take on new challenges
* Demonstrated high standards of presentation and merchandising
* Strong work ethic and results‑driven approach
* Willing and able to relocate to Byron Bay
* Single accommodation available – ideal for a single person seeking a fresh start
* Able to thrive in a busy store environment
* Willingness and ability to travel weekly to Brisbane Markets (Rocklea) for direct produce sourcing
