About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Operator/Maintenance Technician to join our team at the Shoal Bay Leachate Treatment Plant in Darwin. This is a hands-on role, critical to the ongoing success of the plant's operations and maintenance. You'll be part of a close-knit team, working with technical experts, contractors, and clients to ensure plant performance, safety, and compliance.
This role will suit someone with a strong mechanical aptitude, experience in operations or maintenance, and a proactive approach to Safety, Environment and Quality.
What We're Looking For
Preferred skills & experience:
* Operate and maintain the Shoal Bay Leachate Treatment Plant in accordance with the O&M Manual.
* Conduct daily site inspections and oversee contractor performance.
* Prepare and deliver site inductions, toolbox talks, and safety briefings.
* Identify and manage safety hazards, ensuring site compliance with WHS and environmental standards.
* Coordinate deliveries, maintenance of heavy equipment, and site repairs.
* Keep accurate site records, maintenance logs, and compliance documentation.
* Liaise with clients, contractors, and technical teams to achieve operational goals.
* Organise and manage work permits (Hot Work, Confined Space, Cranage, etc.).
* Respond to plant shutdowns, failures, and emergency scenarios.
* Develop preventative maintenance schedules and continual improvement processes.
* Contribute to R&D and assist on other environmental remediation or waste water projects when required.
About You
* Mechanical, electrical, or plant operations experience (wastewater, water treatment, or industrial plant operations highly regarded).
* Strong understanding of workplace health, safety, and environmental compliance.
* Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive, can-do attitude.
* Ability to coordinate multiple tasks, contractors, and deadlines.
* Willingness to obtain Certificate III in Waste Water Treatment Practices (if notalready held).
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
