Put simply, we are a bank that has a distinct purpose of helping Queenslanders live better lives through better finances.
About the Role
As our Internal Auditor, you will play a crucial role in helping our organisation achieve its objectives by identifying risks and recommending mitigation strategies. Rather than acting as the organisation's "police," our audit function serves as a valued partner, working alongside teams to strengthen operations and ensure sustainable success.
This is a 7month contract, full-time position, based on a 38-hour working week. This role can be based in our Townsville Head Office.
What you'll do
* Engage with various departments to develop a deep understanding of how the organisation operates.
* Assess risks and provide practical recommendations to support the institution's objectives.
* Foster relationships built on trust, credibility, and open communication.
* Conduct audits with a questioning mindset, ensuring a comprehensive evaluation of processes and controls.
What we're looking for
* Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills – the ability to engage with people at all levels of the organisation.
* A strong analytical mindset and high attention to detail – curiosity and critical thinking to identify and assess risks effectively.
* Collaboration and adaptability – a team player who thrives in cross-functional environments.
* No prior audit experience required – this role is suitable for someone with no prior audit experience or someone with previous experience. If you have a strong questioning mind and excellent soft skills, we will support you in developing the technical expertise needed for success.
* Previous experience in or knowledge of Australian and International auditing standards – familiarity with the standards produced by the Institute of Internal Auditors under the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF) is advantageous.
* Sound knowledge of legislation and standards applicable to financial services – an understanding of regulatory frameworks relevant to the financial sector.
This is a fantastic opportunity to grow within a supportive organisation. If you are eager to contribute to meaningful work while continuously learning and developing, we would love to hear from you
