Job Description
BlueScope is an Australian-born global success story spanning 15 countries. Our team of over 16,500 people is our strength and we want our people to be safe, successful and well. We’re leaders and innovators in transforming steel into smart products and solutions that support society, today and in the future. We’re proud of brands, like COLORBOND ® steel that inspire and protect everything from hospitals to bridges and stadiums.
The Opportunity
Our Lysaght business is looking for a Transport Manager to join the Operations Team based in Archerfield, QLD. Made in Australia since 1921, Lysaght manufactures and markets steel building products that have helped shape the nation: from iconic corrugated roofing over Australian homes, to large commercial and industrial projects.
We are looking for a hands-on leader who thrives in fast paced, high volume distribution environments. This role is ideal for someone who doesn't lead from behind a desk but is actively present on the floor, working alongside their team to understand the operation from every angle.
If you're passionate about building trust, leading through example, and making an impact through smart, strategic change, this role offers the platform to do just that.
This position is a Monday to Friday opportunity, offering a competitive salary, up to 14% superannuation and a quarterly bonus. Occasional interstate travel for training and development is required, giving you the chance to expand your expertise while staying grounded in day-to-day operations.
What Will You Do?
Partnering closely with our operation and sales teams on site, you will:
* build and sustain an effective team capable of producing exceptional standards in safety, quality, lead times and delivery in full, on time measures
* work collaboratively to drive improvement of all logistical processes
* plan, coordinate and control the dispatch and movement of material
* actively seek out continuous improvement initiatives and implement to the wider team
More About You
The Transport Manager position requires a collaborative and transparent management style, with a focus on change management and driving operational efficiencies through LEAN principles and data-driven decision making. You'll be stepping into a well-established team, so your ability to engage, listen, and support existing staff is crucial. We’re looking for someone who respects legacy systems but could also drive meaningful improvements.
As a safety focused leader with an enthusiasm to see your team succeed, you will bring:
* experience supervising within an operations, warehousing or logistics environment
* tertiary
qualifications
in transport, supply chain or logistics would be highly regarded
* an ability to translate business objectives to clear actions and outcomes for your team

* a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of yourself and others
* computer competency and willingness to learn our systems
