Human Resource Officer (Role)
Perth Modern School is seeking an experienced and professional Human Resources (HR) Officer to provide high‑level support to the Principal and Executive Team in the delivery of human resource activities and operations across the school. The ideal applicant would have excellent organisational skills, sound judgement, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic and confidential environment.
The Human Resources Officer plays a key role in ensuring that all HR functions operate efficiently and in accordance with relevant policies, procedures, and legislative requirements. The position is responsible for managing recruitment and selection processes through the Recruitment Applicant Management System (RAMS), administering the Human Resource Management Information System (HRMIS) for leave, payment, and electronic advice processing, and supporting workforce planning, induction, relief staffing, and performance management processes. The role also involves providing accurate and timely human resource advice and information to staff and contributing to the continuous improvement of HR systems and practices across the school.
The successful applicant will ideally display a strong understanding of workforce planning and contemporary human resource management practices within a public sector framework. They will ideally possess the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships across all levels of the organisation, supported by well‑developed communication and interpersonal skills. A solutions‑focused and analytical approach to problem‑solving is highly important, together with the capacity to plan, prioritise, and manage competing demands while maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, and integrity at all times. Proficiency in information technology, HR and administrative software systems, and a high level of competence in Microsoft Excel and related applications are also highly desirable.
Previous experience within a school or education‑based human resources environment will be highly regarded.
Eligibility
* Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
* Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start.
* Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
