Position Summary
The role offers a base salary of $79,072 per annum plus applicable allowances, 12% superannuation, and benefits. It is a permanent full‐time position within the Water Services, Infrastructure Operations and Delivery team based in Bundaberg Region.
Responsibilities
Operate, maintain, and monitor the performance of Council's water and wastewater treatment plants to ensure regulatory compliance and quality standards. Safeguard the health of the community by ensuring reliable delivery of clean water and effective treatment of wastewater. Shift work, on‐call duties and occasional assistance at other treatment sites across the region may be required.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Certificate III in Water Industry Operations, with dual qualifications in Water and Wastewater Treatment Operations, or an equivalent qualification.
* Demonstrated ability and verified skills to operate light and medium mechanical equipment used in the operation and maintenance of treatment plant assets, in accordance with the Queensland Local Government Industry Award (Stream B).
* Proven knowledge and experience in operating treatment plant equipment and automated processes, including plant monitoring instruments, laboratory testing, and equipment calibration.
* Experience operating and monitoring SCADA and process control systems.
* Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, guidelines, and codes related to the provision of water and wastewater services.
* Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
* Ability to work under remote supervision and provide guidance or direction to other employees when required.
* Basic computer literacy, including use of Microsoft Office and other Council‐specific software.
* Current Class C driver licence.
* Fit test for tight‐fitting respirators within the first three months of employment and ongoing compliance with fit‐testing standards.
* National police check and pre‐employment medicals (including drug and alcohol testing) may be required.
