Band 7: $109k-123k per annum (depending on experience) + 12% superannuation.

About the Role
The Senior Strategic Property Planner plays a critical role in establishing and implementing Council's Property Strategy function. This new, organisation‐wide position drives long‐term property planning, optimisation and strategic decision‐making, ensuring Council plans for, enables and supports community infrastructure that meets current and future community needs. The senior planner will deliver Council's Strategic Property Plan 2025-2030, set the long‐term direction for managing Glen Eira's land and building portfolio, and provide a decision‐making framework that balances community benefit and financial sustainability amid limited land, rising costs and growing demand for accessible community infrastructure.
Responsibilities
* Lead the delivery of Council's Strategic Property Plan 2025-2030.
* Work on priority strategic property projects identified in the plan, support policy review and update, and develop options and recommendations for Council consideration.
* Explore opportunities to better use, adapt or leverage Council's property assets, and identify partnerships, co‐location or alternative delivery models to meet community needs where Council cannot act alone.
* Procure, brief and manage specialist consultants (feasibility, financial and technical advisors) and integrate their inputs into broader strategic advice.
* Prepare high‐quality reports, briefings and business cases that articulate trade‐offs, risks, partnership opportunities and organisation‐wide impacts.
* Collaborate across Council to align property strategy with service planning, finance, asset management, planning and community priorities.
Qualifications
* Tertiary qualification in Property, Project Management, Urban Planning or a related discipline.
* Demonstrated experience delivering complex projects or strategic initiatives, with strong project management, coordination and governance skills.
* Experience in community consultation and collaboration across organisational or sector boundaries, with a strategic and outcomes‐focused approach.
* Financial literacy and the ability to understand and communicate cost, value, risk, affordability and long‐term sustainability trade‐offs.
