Doomadgee State School is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Senior Social Worker to join our student support team. You will collaborate within our student support team to enhance access to wellbeing and mental health services, helping create a stronger, healthier school community. This role is part of a statewide initiative ensuring every student has access to a wellbeing professional where they need it most. 
About Doomadgee State School 
Doomadgee State School is situated in the remote Aboriginal community of Doomadgee, along the Nicholson River near the Gulf of Carpentaria. We are committed to serving the Doomadgee community, providing a curriculum that helps all students reach their individual potential. Our staff work to develop solid relationships and a sense of belonging through cultural connections, ensuring students feel connected, cared for, and ready to learn. 
Role Focus 
The focus of the role is to provide support for students with mild to moderate mental health concerns. The wellbeing professionals employed through the Wellbeing Workforce work as part of schools\' established student support teams to enhance wellbeing and mental health support for students. The Wellbeing Workforce will ensure every Queensland primary and secondary state school student has access to a wellbeing professional at school. 
Responsibilities 
- Assessing client needs, developing care plans, connecting clients with resources and services, advocating for their rights and offering emotional support. 
- Operate in an advisory and advocacy capacity providing professional services specific to the social work discipline. 
- Respond to the needs of the student population and school community to provide personal and family counselling, therapy and group work, facilitate referrals to other allied health professionals, and coordinate services for student wellbeing and mental health. 
- Support school communities in responding to critical incidents and emergencies as part of the school response team. 
- Participate as a member of a multi-disciplinary team within an educational setting, providing support to school, community and interagency networks relevant to the position.
