Senior Geotechnical Engineer
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Pavements & Geotechnical team in our Adelaide office. Working alongside industry leaders in the South Australian market, this key role will provide a balance of technical work, business development and mentoring, with opportunities for project management.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to a wide variety of infrastructure projects across several market sectors, including transport, water, buildings, mining and energy projects. You will be responsible for the geotechnical design discipline component of major projects, as well as reviewing your peer's geotechnical design documentation, to provide our clients with support in delivering projects which benefit the community.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Working with a wide range of experienced geotechnical engineers, engineering geologists, pavement engineers, geophysicists, hydrogeologists and geo-technicians at a national and international level.
* Contributing to the delivery of projects, including identification and management of risks, and ensuring work outputs are of a high technical standard.
* Undertaking geotechnical analyses in areas such as deep excavations, slope stability, foundations, retaining walls, pavement designs etc.
* Undertaking interpretation and analysis of data to develop and implement practical and commercial solutions.
* Interacting with clients through pursuit, tendering and delivery phases of projects, along with opportunities to address business development tasks in our relationship-oriented business.
* Providing technical mentoring for junior team members to build and develop their skills to ensure the continuing success of the team.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Formal qualifications in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering, coupled with at least 10 years of demonstrated geotechnical engineering experience.
* The ability to provide strong technical leadership, mentoring and advice to others as well as the ability to prioritise, co-ordinate and lead teams carrying out both field investigation and analytical design work.
* Technical capabilities demonstrated through conducting technical research, delivering technical papers, as well as experience in fieldwork data gathering and site investigation reporting.
* The ability to provide accurate investigations, complete data and calculations, and conduct tasks consistent with prescribed methods.
* Ability to carry out geotechnical analysis of slopes, shallow foundations, piled foundations, deep excavations and retaining structures using industry standard software or methods (AS1726-2017) experience with, or willingness to learn numerical modelling software, particularly Plaxis (2D & 3D) and Abaqus.
* Focus on client service, good people relationships and networking skills.
* Hold a valid SA Driver's license, or equivalent.
