Mobile Seed Grading & Treating Plant Operator
Soft Commodity Logistics are currently looking for energetic, passionate and hard-working people to join our National team.
Due to ongoing growth, we require a number of Mobile Seed Grading & Treating Plant Operators to join a dynamic business with a rapidly expanding client base.
You would be operating our industry-leading seed grading and treating plant to obtain the highest quality seed for our clients, which is mounted to a heavy rigid truck.
Working under our Region Manager and Coordinator, our Operators work with our clients and partners to a schedule set out driving from farm-to-farm, cleaning, grading and treating our clients' seed in the grain‐growing regions across Australia.
Given there is a lot of responsibility and autonomy that goes with this position, our operators are well rewarded and remunerated.
Accommodation:
As you will be working across a region, a list of approved accommodation will be provided (caravan parks, motels, hotels etc.) to enjoy country hospitality.
Food:
A daily meal allowance is provided to cover an evening meal and experience country‐style cooking and pubs.
Responsibilities
* Oversee seed processing & treating plant operation to SCL standards.
* Ensure plant and equipment is safe for operation and maintained to meet SCL standards.
* Inform customers of processing plant schedules.
* Ensure correct chemical dosing and coverage obtained by seed treating plant.
* Advise farmer/client on and document quality of grain being processed for seed.
* Ensure processing plant hygiene is maintained to company standards.
* Ensure chemical inventories are tracked, recorded and reconciled in accordance with SCL procedure.
* Advise farmer/client with seed size screen selection.
* Inform farmer/client of applicator calibration and chemical seed coverage.
* Inform farmer/client about the latest processing and application technologies.
Qualifications & Requirements
* HR license and truck driving experience.
* Detail oriented.
* Work autonomously to problem‐solve to achieve the best outcome.
* Agricultural experience with grain handling and knowledge of grain types.
* Ability to reverse a trailer and maneuver in confined areas safely.
* Provide a medical check.
* Have a friendly disposition and the ability to talk to farmers.
* Proven record‐keeping and mathematical abilities.
* Fit and agile.
* Teachable and honest.
* Be a team player.
* Ability to plan and manage a schedule.
* Show initiative.
* Cope well under pressure and maintain a relaxed and friendly attitude.
* Be flexible and adaptable when it comes to unavoidable changes to the schedule.
Other important points to note:
* Must have the ability to handle working in hot conditions all day.
* Must be technology savvy and be competent, accurate and timely in completing paperwork.
* High standards of hygiene at the job site and on trucks and equipment must be maintained at all times.
* If successful, job training will be provided.
The season runs from October through to May/June each year.
